Edwinems feature suggestion from the old forums which I'm going to post now as a feature workthread. Continue from here!
"
The player probably won't play the game from the beginning to the end within one day. So he might forget some (important) details of the story. That's why we need a journal that brings together all information that can be important for the player to continue the game.
Our journal has different chapters. Btw, it could be even designed like a book:
- Quests
- Story line
- Characters
- Notebook
Quests:
The player can look up all quests that he has either finished or unfinished.
Story line:
Every important step is here written down with date and time, so that the player can recall everything in short.
Characters:
Here the player can read a summary about the NPCs which he got to know in the game.
Notebook:
The player can take notes with his computer's keyboard, if he wants to set out in writing an information. This way, we could force the player to read carefully the dialogs and take notes and not only browse through the journal's summary.
to be continued...
"
Maybe it could look something
Jarno Montonen — Thu, 04/03/2008 - 11:15Maybe it could look something like a notebook or notes, which would've been written by the Player Character. Like for himself to remember stuff later. "Januar 1, 1234: I faced a guy in a dark alley of Alensia. He offered me a dozen gold peaces for assasinating a fruit vendor on the marketplace. I rejected and continued walking. Suddendly..
Getting things thrown into the Journal in a logical story form from dialogs and othe story events could be alot of work. We want to find the best thing we can actually implement..
